Symbols,
Terminology, and Conventions
- U-sew contains lots of topics telling you how to do common
alterations.
- Each topic is a self contained set of instructions, broken
into steps.
- The first step tells you the Skill
Level and what you will need to carry out the task.
Example:
Skill Level:
3
What you will need:
- Unpicker
- Thread
- Straight sewing machine
- Overlocker
- Each step has a diagram and notes telling you what to
do. Example:
What to do:
Step 3
Overlock
The overlocker will remove the existing seams.
The diagram shows the seam lines
in green.
The overlocking is shown in red.
- The general outline of the garment is shown in black.
- Green is used to show what exists and/or
what you have already done in a previous step.
- Red is used to show what you are doing
in this step.
In this example, most of the left side has been completed.
Note that the overlocking is removing the seams.
This "almost half done" convention will
be followed as far as possible in all steps.
