I have many years of experience in the dressmaking and clothing alterations industry. During this time I have evolved many simple ways of doing complicated sewing tasks - tasks that would otherwise defeat all but the most experienced professional dressmakers.

The purpose of this site is to pass on to you these simple ways so that you will be able to do clothing alterations you thought could only be done by professional dressmakers. By following my easy steps you will be amazed at what you can do! Your alterations will have a professional appearance that will amaze you.

All the step-by-step instructions are based on the use of a basic straight sewing machine and an overlocker machine. I do this for the following reasons:

• It keeps the instructions and demonstrations simple and to the point.
• All tasks follow a similar uniform method that you will quickly pick up.
• You do not have to buy expensive machinery to do alterations of professional standard.

With each task I list the tools and materials you will need. I always use the very best quality threads and tools. My sewing machines are very simple, but they are the very best. This gives the finished product the best finish and durability. I urge you to do the same for the following reasons:

• With good tools and threads you optimize your chances of accomplishing skilful operations successfully.
